Meet Pastor Rafael

Hi my name is Rafael Robles, I grew up in a neighborhood that lacked resources to support children, which made me feel alone and abandoned at times. Unfortunately, this led me to join a violent gang. However, I always wished  for someone to play with me, care for me, and be a positive presence in my life. This is why I became a part of CityKidz. Our dream is to help children who may feel the same way I did. It’s gratifying to see the happy and excited faces of the children we visit and work with. Our goal is to support theses children from elementary school all the way to young adulthood and never abandon them. We want to be there for them every step of the way. CityKidz is committed to this journey, and we appreciate your support. Thank you!

Locations

Our team has been invited by the Housing Authority to bring some good news and fun to the Saticoy area of east Ventura. Our goal is to encourage boys and girls to step away from their electronic devices and enjoy some outdoor activities while hearing an inspiring story of hope. We provide snacks for the whole family, so come join us for some old-fashioned, sun-filled fun!

In the past, the Avenue is located in the west part of Ventura and was known for its notorious gang activities, including drug trafficking and murders. Due to this reputation, many people would avoid a street called W. Ramona St. However, our team made the decision seven years ago to enter the area and establish a kid’s program right across from a drug house. We believe that our small actions are making a big impact, as we show up three times a month to share the good news with boys and girls. Our goal is to provide hope for these kids and prevent them from choosing a negative path in life. Today the drug house is gone, kids feel safe and we are here to stay.

Westview Apartments, located in the Ventura Avenue Area, this CityKidz site has been a beloved part of the neighborhood for over 12 years. Although we recently had to pause operations due to the construction of a new community, we are grateful to the Housing Authority for their consideration of families. As an outreach for both old and new residents, we strive to provide support in various areas, such as our citykidz program, teen club, and family events. Our mission is to connect families with resources that will help them flourish and promote a sense of community where neighbors love one another.
